Media in Megagames

Media teams can be one of the most important cogs in a Megagame’s story but are often the last tickets sold. Here are a few reasons you should play on the media team in your next Megagame (if its available).

Kind of Like Work

One of the criticisms often levied at the Media team is that it feels a bit more like work than some of the standard roles. The strict deadlines might hit a little too close to some.

Despite this, those that give the Media a chance get to experience Megagames in an entirely different light. There's something special to be said to having an entirely different experience to that of anyone else in attendance.

What’s Going On

Media teams have the rare task of knowing everything that is going on in a Megagame. Is it possible? No. Is it still awesome to try? Definitely yes.

Other players want to talk to you about what is going on, so you’ll likely have the best view of the game’s story. Granted, some players may be trying to use you to spread lies about what they’re doing. It’s up to you to decipher who is being a reliable source and who is using you for propaganda. That challenge can be one of the biggest appeals of the Media in Megagames.

Crafting the Narrative

More than just knowing what's going on, Media teams are charged with sharing (or selectively not sharing) that information to the rest of the players. It's incredibly common for a news sheet or broadcast to kick off a flurry of activity. You'll get the satisfaction of knowing your words ignited that activity.

As a Media team member, you help craft the overall experience in a way few other players have the chance to. It'll be fast-paced and frantic but the end result will be one you'll never forget.

Whether you're breaking a bribery scandal in the council chambers or recanting the tail of a particularly successful relic expedition, memories created by the Media team craft some of the moments that make Megagames special.
